oogly is Ringing in the Year of the Dragon!

Chinese New Year 2012 rang in the Year of the Dragon! In Chinese culture and folklore, the dragon is revered as a sign of luck and a benevolent protector. According to the Chinese zodiac, the Year of the Dragon is special and said to be a lucky year. Now, that’s great news!

Dragons have been a popular art motif for thousands of years – probably dating back before written history.  Artists explore the dragon’s mythical form and possibilities in ink, stone, textiles, and…you guessed it…oogly clay!

Who wouldn’t want to have a magnificent dragon as a friend and protector? Start The Year of the Dragon by creating your own lucky oogly dragon! As with ooglys, there’s no “right” or “wrong” way to make a dragon – you’re limited only by your imagination.

Does your dragon have long ears? Sharp teeth? Does your dragon have wings? Or is it an ocean-dweller with sleek scales and flippers to help it swim? How old is your dragon? Can it breathe fire? Does your dragon live in a cave – or in a palace? Can your dragon talk? What does its voice sound like?

We’d love to see photos of your new dragon friends – please share them on our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ooglykit.
