Making Treehouses

Tree houses are a great part of summertime fun for kids. It’s not just playing in them – it’s dreaming of the perfect tree house, designing one, picking the perfect spot and maybe even building it.
Complete with a swing and all sorts of animals and special touches.
The kids in my classes love to make “tree houses” out of clay and they’ve been busy this summer with lots of great ideas and clever twists. Here are a few of the tree houses they’ve dreamed up lately.
The marbles in this one will melt down when the tree house is fired in the kiln. The result will be a glossy pool of blue for the birdpath and pond.
For this one, different colors of clay add visual interest.
This toad stool tree house was made of porcelain and the fun glazes make it festive!
Special stars at the doorway welcome you to this treehouse.
