Holiday Fun with Kids and Clay

As the holidays dash along, I’ve been fortunate to have some fun with my young friends in the studio this week making festive holiday pieces. One of my creative young artists tried out variations on the snowman theme with a variety of shaped, sizes and special touches.  We’re going to add some color before the next firing and then they’ll be quite the festive set.
My grandkids came to visit this weekend and we also got busy on some holiday projects together. Will had fun making a great penguin. He added hair for a little whimsy and big webbed feet to help keep his balance.
Gen went the smaller route but no less festive. Her snowman has bright blue eyes and a nice tall hat. Plus, his carrot nose will be a bright orange when we finish with the glazes.
Will also tried his hand at a fairy house like the one we demonstrated on Rhythm of the Home this fall. He spent lots of time getting the details just right including the tiny front door under the finely thatched roof. He make the roof removable so his house could be filled with special things. It only takes a touch of imagination to think up some clever critters to fill it up.
What fun holiday projects have you been working on?
