If you are like me, you find all sorts of wonderful things in your yard when you take time to wander and look. I often find pieces of wood that I use for textures and inspiration in my work with clay. I love to find ways to incorporate those found objects for kids’ projects too.
It's not hard to find treasures on the ground in the yard. |
That’s just one of the reasons I love these bird sculptures done by students whose art teacher, Shannah, writes the blog new city art. Shannah shares lots of great ideas and art projects along with pictures of the art her students make at her blog.

Don’t you think the glazes on the birds are stunning next to the wood? Of course, Shannah found this wood someplace special – check out her blog for the details – but sometimes, you can find special touches even in your backyard.
The next time you are out in your yard, at a park or in the woods, see what you can find to add to an art project. It’s a great way to explore outdoors and find inspiration for a piece.
Hello there,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blog mention! How fun to see these here:)
Thanks Shannah - we really enjoy your projects and look forward to trying a variation on this one.
